This 1991 Land Rover Defender 90 has undergone a full and complete restoration/rebuild and is ready for years of off road excursions. The Defender limped into our shop on its last legs after years of abuse in Germany. There was no way a simple respray and bolting on a few new parts would bring this up to our standards. It had to be brought back to Better-Than-Factory condition. Unlike most Defender restorations out there, nothing was left untouched in this process. Every rusted or worn part was replaced with new and most hardware was replaced with stainless. Major upgrades include:

Fully Rebuilt 200Tdi Engine

The original 200Tdi engine was stripped to bare block and performance increased to above factory specs. New bearings, new pistons, high performance turbo and new fuel injectors have given this engine a new lease on life. All tolerances have been meticulously measured and verified to be within spec. The head has been reconditioned and enhanced by Turner Engineering in the UK. Most of the engine ancillaries are new including wire loom, lift pump, water pump, power steering pump, alternator, fuel lines and also Allisport uprated radiator, intercooler and breather.

R380 Gearbox Built by Ashcroft

The original LT77 gearbox has been replaced with the newer and stronger R380. This gearbox can withstand higher torque which is a welcomed upgrade for heavy off road activity. Being fully rebuilt by Ashcroft in the UK, it performs as smooth as it would have out of the factory.

LT230 Transfer Box Built by Ashcroft

The LT230 transfer box is a complete rebuild unit from Ashcroft in UK. The new box includes major upgrades: HD ATB centre diff (provides increased traction), sleeved casing for strength, a 1.22 higher range gear ratio (boosts 5th gear by 10mph at 2,500RPM) and a cross-drilled input gear for added lubrication to prevent spline wear (common on Rovers).

New Galvanized Chassis/Bulkhead

The original chassis was in the typical state of being as most originals, rusted throughout. We replaced it with a new Richards galvanized chassis then coated it in epoxy primer for a long life of off road use. The bulkhead was likewise in a sorry state that didn’t merit refurbishment. Instead it was replaced and fully protected with an epoxy primer coating.

All New Upgraded Suspension

The suspension has been upgraded with new Old Man Emu shocks and springs with a 1.5″ lift. All new components include new bushings, HD steering/panhard/track rods, ball joints and shock towers. Epoxy coating was applied to radius arms, trailing arms and rear upper link to protect in harsh environments. A Front Runner steering guard has been fitted to protect from off road damage.

Fully Rebuilt Axles/Diffs/Hubs

The front and rear differentials have been fully rebuilt with new Timkin bearings and Land Rover parts. Many new replacements include hubs, swivel balls bearings and HD drive flanges. The wheels have been upgraded to genuine Method 16″ wheels.

New Brake System

The brake system is all new including calipers, pads and discs. The rear brakes were upgraded to new disc brakes. The hydraulics were all replaced with a new master cylinder and new conifer pipes and new fittings.

Totally Refurbished Exterior

This Defender was generously abused over its life. We have brought it back to its former glory by replacing panels that were dented (NOT just covered with body filler). The body has been coated in epoxy primer and finished in Land Rover Limestone PPG paint. Closed cell foam or rubber has been used to separate aluminum and steel parts. The front doors have been replaced with new genuine Land Rover doors from the 2016 production line (new take-offs from Israel Military Defenders). The rear door was also replaced with new genuine Land Rover door. Additional upgrades include stainless steel hinges and thresholds, new rear sliding windows, window tinting and new Land Rover window/door seals.

Totally Refurbished Interior

The interior has been significantly refurbished and upgraded. Soundproofing was applied throughout the interior. Seating has been refurbished with new cushions, leather and heaters. Rear seating has been upgraded with 4 jump seats and padded cargo area. Leather door cards and dash add to the premium cabin. Additional upgrades include: LED lighting in forward and aft cabin, all new VDO dash gauges and premium suede headlining and trim.
